Standard and Passing Down S&P+

Passing Downs (PD) are second down with 8+ yards to go, and third down with 5+ to go. Everything else is a Standard Down (SD). These two stats measure how good offenses are in either situation. On SD, our leaders are Oklahoma, LSU, Missouri, and Penn State. PD leaders are Ohio State, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma. These teams can sustain drives, and rarely go three and out multiple times in a game.

Texas A&M, on Standard Downs, is almost 10 points below standard at 90.6. That’s good for 106th in the country. On Passing Downs, the Aggies are at 95.1, ranking 90th in the country. Some comparisons for SD are UL-Lafayette at 104th, Buffalo at 105th, and San Diego State at 109th. PD comparisons are just as G5 filled as the SD comparisons. Around the Aggies are Ball State at 94th, Western Kentucky at 96th, Maryland at 89th (They’re Power 5, but have gone through every QB on their roster), and LSU at 88. The Aggies are worse than LSU at throwing the ball.

West Virginia is not good in this category, ranking 82nd in the country. But that is their worst stat, and it is a higher ranking than most of the Aggies even still.
