1. Limit the running game

Looking at the teams that Auburn lost to, they were able to limit the damage from the running game. Against Clemson, the Tigers (the ones the Aggies are playing) were held to 48 yards rushing. A not insignificant portion of those lost yards came in the form of 11 sacks, but they had 80 before those sacks were tallied. Against the other (LSU) Tigers, the Auburn Tigers were held to 189 yards rushing on 44 attempts.

The major key for this game is going to be shutting down the run game. LSU was able to get pressure on Jarrett Stidham by blitzing in the second half. The second half Auburn Tiger offense looked much like the Aggies offense against Mississippi State. In the second half, Auburn’s drives looked like this-

8 plays, punt

3 plays, punt

3 plays, punt

6 plays, punt

4 plays, downs

5 plays, downs

They were unable to run the ball, and therefore, unable to move the ball.
