Offense

The offense was the main star on Saturday, not punting until just before the half. It was good to get Shane Tripucka some air time on Senior Night, and he probably appreciated one last fourth down missile. It went 51 yards. Aside from that, a showing by Starkel was the talk of the Aggies. Playing only the first half, he went 21-30 with four touchdowns and 416 yards. What a way to say that he is back.

The offense was able to average 8.5 yards per play and put up 48  points in the first half. That should right the ship. New Mexico’s defense wasn’t great, and was pretty average in S&P+, but it’s the third half of football we’ve seen from Starkel, and he has been good in all of them.

On the whole, the offensive rankings moved from 77th to 64th. A small boost, but it still has inputs from the offensively anemic Nicholls, Mississippi State, and Florida games. Aggies have to be wondering what the story would be if Starkel never was injured.
