Texas A&M Football 2017: 3 Keys to victory over LSU
3. Fireworks
By all accounts, this is going to be Kevin Sumlin‘s last game as the coach of the Aggies. Whether you think he should have been fired or not, most Aggies want to see him successful in later jobs. What a better way to send off a coach who delivered the first Heisman Trophy to Texas A&M University? (John David Crow‘s era was in the TAMC days). I want to see Coach Sumlin try something, for lack of a better word, stupid.
I want the team to do something, or several things, that go against common convention. Trick plays, inordinate risks, just fun football. These players have been through a lot, and being reminded that football is fun to play can invigorate them into a surprising win over the Tigers.
LSU used to make their living making crazy choices, and it would be fitting that Sumlin’s first win over the Tigers was one where he wasn’t afraid to try new things and coach like he had nothing to lose.
Next: Where does Sumlin rank in Aggie coaching history?
Sumlin has been known to pull out a wide receiver pass from time to time, who knows what else is buried in his bag of tricks. This might be his last chance to show some razzle dazzle. Let’s make it a wild one.
