Texas A&M football: Twitter reacts to debunked Kevin Sumlin to Arizona State news
The internet reacts to current, yet possibly soon-to-be former Texas A&M football head coach Kevin Sumlin reportedly being a potential hire at Arizona State.
The coaching carousel runs at a breakneck pace. Kevin Sumlin was expected to be fired soon after the LSU game. Saturday evening came and went. Then Sunday morning came and went. Kevin Sumlin was still the head coach at Texas A&M come lunch time, but that doesn’t figure to be the case for much longer. Yet, it seemed for a while like it might not be because Texas A&M will fire him.
Early reports suggest that Arizona State had something lined up with Kevin Sumlin to make him their next head coach. The Sun Devils fired six-year head coach Todd Graham on Sunday morning, leaving a vacancy available. If Sumlin did jump ship for the desert he potentially could save the Aggies some buyout money.
Kevin Sumlin’s squared off with Arizona State to kick off the 2015 season. The Aggies beat the Sun Devils handily, winning 38-17 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Tx. Christian Kirk, one of those Arizona recruits, registered his first career punt return touchdown in that game.
This potential move has since been debunked by Bruce Feldman. But that didn’t stop the internet from voicing their opinion of the potential move. Twitter was ablaze, reacting to the possibility that Kevin Sumlin might be leaving the Aggies for the Sun Devils.

It’s still well within reason that Kevin Sumlin will be looking for a job at the same time Arizona State is hiring. While a deal might not be in place at the moment that doesn’t mean that Sumlin won’t find his way to the desert next season. However, first he needs to leave College Station.
