SEC Championship Game

Saturday, Dec. 2 – No. 2 Auburn vs No. 6 Georgia, 3:00 p.m. CT, Mercedes Benz Stadium, CBS

Most Aggies I know are going to be watching this game. Under the lights that still don’t look quite right in Atlanta, the Tigers and Bulldogs are going to be playing their second game. Auburn has a chance to tie up the all-time series at 57 wins apiece, and will be very confident after the Iron Bowl and previous game with Georgia.

These two teams are more similar than they would like to admit (both of them play Battle Hymn of the Republic as a quasi-fight song, but one says Georgia and the other says Auburn. The other lyrics are the exact same), and rivalry games that are also championship games are incredibly fun.

In the last (glorious) matchup, Auburn won 40-17, and knocked off the then-No. 1 Bulldogs. Auburn was able to stymie the Bulldog’s vaunted running game, forcing freshman quarterback Jake Fromm to win the game with his arm. Against a quality defense like the one Auburn has fielded this year, this is no small task. Look for Auburn to again try to stifle the Georgia ground game and open up the Bulldog defense with some deep passes.
