2. A new 5-star commit

There is no doubt that Kevin Sumlin increased the recruiting profile of Texas A&M significantly. He took the Aggies from occasional top-20 classes to routine top-15 classes with a few top-10 classes scattered in between. Jimbo Fisher’s task is to take those top-10 classes and turn them into top-5 classes.

The easiest way for Fisher to work his magic with the current recruiting class would be to raise the average with a huge commitment (or two). Texas A&M is still in the running for two major 5-star players, one on each side of the ball.

Bossier City, LA receiver Terrace Marshall was courted by Fisher at Florida State and the Aggies. It looks like his recruitment might come down to the Aggies and home-state LSU. Pulling him out of Louisiana will be no small feat, but the quality of the offenses in Baton Rouge is a point in Texas A&M’s favor.

Isaac Taylor-Stuart, a defensive back out of  La Mesa, CA is the other name to watch. Taylor-Stuart has gone on the record to say he wished Sumlin would have stayed, but he’s since met with Jeff Banks and will be a focus of Fisher’s efforts going forward.

There are other names out there, but a splash signing of anyone of this caliber would jolt the Aggies into the top 10 and build to the momentum growing in College Station.
