SEC Football and their bowl season gets underway Dec. 27. Over the next week, all nine bowls will be played. Which bowls represent the top five by matchup?

Texas A&M Football plays Wake Forest in the Belk Bowl on Dec. 29 in Charlotte. With nine SEC teams playing in the postseason, which five are the best? We know two of them, let’s figure out the other three.

Missed the cut

The Outback Bowl  in most years would make the list but is anyone really interested in watching this year’s rendition of South Carolina and Michigan. The game in 2013 had more start power with Jadeveon Clowney and Denard Robinson. Everyone remembers the hit and how John Gruden called it.

The Taxslayer Bowl misses the list for one reason and that’s the injury to Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald. In my opinion, this would be right behind the two semifinal games. How fun would the game be with Fitzgerald going up against Lamar Jackson.

The Music City Bowl to me is just another game. Congratulations to Mark Stoops and his Kentucky Wildcats on a solid season. If you’re Pat Fitzgerald and you win nine games, you would think his Wildcats would be playing on New Year’s Day.

The bubble

The Belk Bowl to me falls just short. Maybe I’m disappointed in the game and match-up. I’ve tried to tell everyone that the Aggies should not overlook Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons beat Louisville and NC State. Their losses were to Notre Dame by 11, Florida State by 7, Clemson by 14, Georgia Tech by 14 and Duke by 8.
