Is Willie Taggart really championship caliber?

Because Jimbo is moving on to greener pastures, FSU knew they had to hire a known winner and recruiter. The Noles did the only sensible thing and went and hired the prestigious Willie Taggert. Willie the Winner has gone 47-51 in his career with one season with more than eight wins in the stout American Athletic Conference. While Willie has never been ranked higher than 19th in the nation, hey, his effort was always top notch.

Don’t let this take away from the fact that Taggert has tons of big game experience. In his astronomical total of three full bowl games, he pulled out a lone win over the Boise State Broncos in the famed Birmingham Bowl.

What’s even more impressive is how well W.T. does against ranked opponents! It’s hard not to appreciate how you only need two fingers to count the number of wins against ranked teams that Taggert has won! That’s right, against his 18 ranked opponents only two have be felled (19th ranked Temple and 22nd ranked Navy). Man, I hate having to count a lot. How convenient!

Another great stat about Coach Willie is that after his tenures at Western Kentucky and USF, they got even better! WKU won more games and USF moved up in the rankings. I think I see what FSU is going to do. They’re going to hire Willie Taggert, let him coach for a while and then get rid of him! Then they’ll get better! Makes total sense to me!
