Texas A&M Football: Remembering Johnny Manziel’s top 10 moments
Number 1- Ryan Swope in the Back of the End Zone
The biggest test of the 2012 season. The big, bad Alabama Crimson Tide were waiting for the free-wheeling freshman quarterback to come to town and do what freshmen quarterbacks do in Tuscaloosa (lose). Instead, Manziel and the Aggies came away with a program defining win.
Aggies who saw the game all have personal stories about where they were, or what they were doing, or who they were with, but it’s one that is guaranteed to start a conversation with anyone wearing maroon.
This is the highlight everyone thinks of when they think of Johnny. The scramble, the wide open Ryan Swope, the pressure, everything is perfect. Even the television call from Verne and Gary was iconic (I ripped it and made it my ringtone)-
Verne: “Snap from Patrick Lewis. Four man Alabama rush. Got him”
Gary: “No-”
Verne: “OH NO THEY DIDN’T OH MY GRACIOUS”
Gary: “Yep”
Verne: “HOW ABOUT THAT”

It was a Heisman moment, and I’m sure Alabama fans were very tired of seeing it by the end of the season (Bama fans may appreciate this link more), but they can always console themselves with trophies. There was no doubt through the research and discussions I had, what would be number one. The perfect Johnny play. He showed up in big games, was Houdini in football pads, and gave Aggies too many highlights to count.
