Texas A&M Football: Remembering Johnny Manziel’s top 10 moments
8. 95 yards to Mike Evans
Trying to avenge the loss suffered one year prior, the Alabama Crimson Tide came to Kyle Field to play the No. 6 ranked Aggies. It turned out to be another fantastic game that the Tide were able to win behind 149 yards from TJ Yeldon and a near-perfect performance from AJ McCarron. Along the way, there were two massive plays for the Aggies that showed that Johnny Manziel was not just a flash in the pan like we would see from later Aggie quarterbacks. He has the real deal, and would be just as good as a sophomore, if not better.
After the Aggies went down 42-28, almost everyone was ready for Alabama to run away with the game, especially with about eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and the Aggies backed up in their own end zone. Enter Mike Evans and Johnny Manziel.
This 95-yard throw was the loudest I ever heard Kyle Field in my four years standing on the East side. Johnny would end the day 28-39 with 464 yards and five touchdowns, while Evans had seven catches for 279 yards and one touchdown. Even though the Aggies lost, it was an amazing game, full of great plays that Aggies remember fondly.
