Texas A&M Football: Remembering Johnny Manziel’s top 10 moments
5. Scramble through Mizzou
Along with Texas A&M, Missouri was the second member of the Big 12 to leave for the SEC. In 2011, Missouri finished 8-5 in the Big 12, but had struggled in 2012. Coming to College Station, they were 5-6, and hoping to obtain bowl eligibility. The Aggies, on the other hand, were 9-2, with an outside shot towards playing for the SEC Championship game. The stage was set for Johnny to once again prove he was the best player in college football.
In the 2012 Missouri game, Texas A&M was one of the hottest teams in the country. When the Missouri Tigers visited Kyle Field, Manziel and the Aggie offense made sure they didn’t come away with the win. During the 59-29 rout, Johnny threw for 372 yards and three touchdowns, with none being more impressive than this scramble to Mike Evans.
Manziel had a penchant for running into his own linemen before throwing a touchdown pass, as he did time and time again. This play shows what happened when Johnny was in a broken pocket, with tons of pressure. With a few steps, he eludes it, and finds the open man. Great scramble, great throw and a great touchdown.
