With National Signing Day just around the corner, the final pieces to the 2018 Texas A&M Football recruiting class will now begin to fall into place.

As of now only 14 total scholarship recruits have committed to play football for the Aggies. None of those 14 are quarterbacks. As we’ve all seen from previous years, depth at the quarterback position is a necessity for this program.

This quarterback class could make or break the chance at immediate success in the Jimbo Fisher era. Texas A&M Football hasn’t started the same quarterback in consecutive season openers since Jerrod Johnson and the team hasn’t had a consistent starter since Johhny Manziel left.

Kellen Mond and Nick Starkel will compete for the starting job in the fall, but there’s a real chance that the loser of that battle will look elsewhere to play out the remainder of his eligibility. If that happens the Aggies will be looking at an extremely thin quarterback room next season, making adding an additional passer in the 2018 class all the more important.

I’d say recruiting a solid quarterback is high up on Jimbo Fisher’s to-do list. Here’s a look at some of the signal callers you could see sign with Texas A&M on National Signing Day.
