Texas A&M Football: Top 5 recruiting targets for 2019 entering the Spring
5. Jordan Whittington
Every team needs a big-time playmaker, right? The Ags have always had at least one. Johnny Manziel, Mike Evans, Armani Watts and Christian Kirk top the list of some of the most recent. Now that those guys are long gone, the 12th Man is in search for that next electric force that can break a game wide open.
We were all hoping that Jaylen Waddle would choose Texas A&M and be our new guy, but he chose Alabama instead. However, it might be possible that they have found the next big thing in a little town in South-East Texas whose mascot seems to be more of a Thanksgiving dish than a menacing football figure.
When it comes to making big plays in all aspects of the game, Jordan Whittington knows how to make it happen. Just east of San Antonio and south of Houston is the small town of Cuero, Texas. Not much goes on there but they can sure play some football. Whittington is a large part of that. Ranked as the number one athlete in the nation, Whittington has been tearing it up for the Cuero Gobblers on both sides of the ball and in the special teams.
Next: Which schools make most sense for SEC expansion?
With tons of offers from schools like Alabama, Oregon, Florida State, and UCLA, this kid has tons of options. However, he’s looking to stay close to home. It’s between Texas A&M and Texas as of right now. 247sports’ Crystal Ball has him leaning towards the Horns, but you never know what the sneaky Jimbo Fisher can pull off. If he comes to College Station, look for the Gobbler to gobble up yards for the Ags in all aspects of the game.
