Texas A&M Basketball advanced to their fourth Sweet 16 in program history, dominating the North Carolina Tarheels in Charlotte. Here are three takeaways from the win.

Texas A&M dispatched Providence in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament to advance to the Round of 32. There they met defending the North Carolina Tarheels, the defending National Champions, with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line. North Carolina defeated Lipscomb.

It was an intriguing matchup on several fronts. It paired a blue blood against a school with three Sweet 16 appearances in program history. Despite the lower seed, Texas A&M had one of the most talented rosters in the country. The game was winnable for the Aggies, but would they be able to take advantage of the opportunity?

Short answer: Yes.

The two teams traded blows through the first two time outs, after that the Aggies took over and never looked back. Texas A&M closed out the first half with a 14-point lead, which they stretched to as many as 26 during the second half. The game was being played in Charlotte, but the baby blue crowd didn’t have much to cheer about as the Aggies dominated this one from start to finish.
