Game 2: Texas A&M defeats Ole Miss 7-6 (Full Box)

The Aggies responded well to Thursday’s loss, jumping out early and holding on late to record their first win of the series. The Aggies bats came alive early, racking up four runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a 2-Run Whammy to right center by Will Frizzell.

Hunter Coleman kept the trend going, accounting for 3 RBI over the fifth and seventh innings and pushed the Aggie lead to 7-2. However, Ole Miss responded with a grand slam in the top of the eighth to bring the deficit to one. But the Aggie pitching duo of Nolan Hoffman and Kaylor Chafin slammed the door in the ninth to give Texas A&M the victory.

Hoffman came to the mound to start the ninth inning and retired two of the batters he faced, allowing a double to the second batter. Chafin came in afterwards with two outs and that tying run on second and produced a game ending ground ball for the win.

It was really good to see Hoffman bounce back well after struggling Friday night. John Doxakis recorded his fourth win in his fourth start and once again was impressive on the mound. Doxakis went 6.2 innings allowing eight hits but only two runs while striking out seven.
