Texas A&M Baseball: Eight Aggies take the field on MLB Opening Day
Alex Wilson was born in Dhahran, Suadi Arabia but grew up in West Virginia. He transferred to Texas A&M from Winthrop in 2007. He sat out the 2008 season but suited up in 2009 for the Ags.
Wilson posted an even .500 record at 6-6 and K-ed up 120 batters in just 89 innings. After his redshirt junior season, he was drafted by the Red Sox in the second round of the Amateur Entry Draft in 2009. He got his big league shot in 2013 with the Red Sox and stayed there for another year.
In 2015 he landed in Detroit with the Tigers and has been there ever since. Since then, he’s posted a 3.15 ERA and struck out 129 batters in 203 innings. Wilson is used as a reliever with his slider being his favorite pitch, throwing it almost 35% of the time. He made 66 appearances for the Tigers last season and this season he plans to be out there even more.
