Cliff Pennington. player. 61. Scouting Report. Infield. Texas A&M. 👍. Pick Analysis

The Corpus Christi native came to Texas A&M in 2003 and played middle shortstop and second base all three years he played here in Aggieland. After getting drafted by the Oakland A’s in 2005 in the first round, he played on five different minor league teams before getting his MLB debut in 2008.

He stayed with the A’s until 2013 when he changed conferences and headed to sunny Arizona to be a Diamondback. Cliff Pennington wasn’t long for AZ and he landed in Toronto in 2015. 2016 took him to the Los Angeles Angels.

On opening day in 2018, this Aggie will suit up for the Cinncinati Reds. He’ll look for more playing time this season as he only got 75 at-bats in 2017. Given the opportunity, this veteran player will make the most of it. Players like Pennington that stick around for this long have figured something out, and he’ll continue to grind away in 2018.
