Texas A&M football has added another layer of intrigue to the 2018 Spring Game – a flag football game at halftime featuring Aggie legends like Johnny Manziel.

Jimbo Fisher turned heads when he promised to raise the bar at Texas A&M. Fisher upped the ante beyond the sky-high expectations, promising a record-setting 2018 Spring Game. That’s going to require 100,000 bodies in the stands. If anyone can do it, the Aggies can, but just in case the administration is pulling out all the stops.

In addition to the Spring Game itself, the first ever “Legends Game” Alumni Flag Football Game will be played at halftime. Headlined by Johnny Manziel, the cast of characters covers five decades of Texas A&M football history.

April 14 at 4 p.m. CT. The students have that date, the start of the Spring Game, marked off on their calendars for weeks. This latest addition to the festivities brings in something for the older Ags to enjoy, getting to see some of their heroes on the field once again. Not only will this bring up plenty of good memories, it’s a savvy move for by the Aggies’ new head coach.

It’s still the honeymoon period of the Jimbo Fisher hire. He hasn’t lost (or won) any football games yet, but the momentum and excitement for the direction of the program is deafening. Fisher has proven thus far that he knows how to navigate the off-field aspects of leading a program. If he can add a strong start on the field to his preseason swagger the Texas A&M fan base could reach a fever pitch by November.
