4. Early enrollee playing time
One of the most fun things to watch for any program are the high profile recruits when they come in as freshman. They are often the most talked about players during spring practice and in the practices leading up to the season.
Sometimes a team gets lucky and players graduate high school early or are a Juco transfer and are eligible to enroll in the spring. Texas A&M has two such players who could make a huge impact during the 2018 season.
Colton Blanton is an incoming freshman that was one of the prized recruits of the class. He was a top 15-20 offensive line recruit, depending where you look. While A&M returns all five starters from a year ago, the unit struggled. Fisher doesn’t have to show loyalty to any incumbents and the best players will play for him.
One of the top junior college tight ends in the country, Jace Sternberger, might be one of the most important recruits of the class. The tight end was essentially non-existent in Sumlin’s offense. That’s not the case for Jimbo. He can be a mismatch up the seams and help in the run game as a blocker. Which brings us to maybe the biggest change you should be watching.
