No. 23 Texas A&M baseball hosts the No. 20 LSU Tigers in the third SEC series of the year. The Aggies desperately need their first conference series win in 2018.

After dropping a series to the Georgia Bulldogs on the road, and having extra time to rest and prepare, the Texas A&M Aggies look to take down the visiting LSU Tigers. The Tigers are coming off an SEC win of their own, taking two games against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

With no midweek game for the Aggies this week, their efforts have all been focused on the Tigers. Especially with the team needing some crucial momentum, there will be pressure to win the series, at least. A sweep of a solid team could work wonders for the confidence of a rebuilding Aggies squad.

Over the course of the season, LSU’s pitching has been inconsistent. The offense is certainly capable of picking up slack, but there is a possible avenue for the Aggies to have a good weekend at the plate. The Tigers have alternated between allowing under three runs (against Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Nicholls), along with giving up more than five (once against Mississippi State and Missouri.)

Probable starters

  • Stephen Kolek (Jr., RHP, 3.02 ERA) vs Zack Hess (So., RHP, 4.93 ERA)
  • John Doxakis (So., LHP, 2.03 ERA) vs Caleb Gilbert (Jr., RHP, 3.79 ERA)
  • Mitchell Kilkenny (Jr., RHP, 1.59 ERA) vs Ma’Khail Hilliard (Fr., RHP, 0.76 ERA)
