Game 2: Texas A&M defeats LSU 9-2 (Full Box)

What the Aggies lacked in offense on Thursday, they made up for it quickly as Texas A&M evened the series with LSU with a 9-2 victory on Friday evening. Starting fast with a 5-run first inning, Texas A&M piled up 13 hits after only managing five  the previous day.

Braden Shewmake and Logan Foster led the way with three hits each and Shewmake added an additional 2 RBI. The Aggie coaching staff had changed up the lineup before the start of the game, moving Michael Helman to the leadoff spot and Foster to second. Foster responded with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, a pair of walks and one solid post game interview.

Texas A&M chased LSU starter Caleb Gilbert after only eight batters as he allowed five runs on six hits. John Doxakis backed up the Aggie offense with a fantastic performance of his own. Doxakis pitched eight innings and allowed two runs on six hits and striking out five. Earning his fifth win of the year, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Doxakis getting the Friday night start next weekend. Asa Lacy closed out the final inning for Texas A&M, retiring all three batters he faced and striking out two.
