Texas A&M Football: Projections for every Aggie entering the 2018 NFL Draft
By Jeff Shull
WR Christian Kirk
Easily the best prospect coming out for the Aggies this year, there is a high possibility Christian Kirk gets selected in the first round. He offers so much as a playmaker not only at the wide receiver position, but also on punt and kick returns. Kirk can break open a game with one play and proved as much in his time at Texas A&M.
Strengths: Extremely quick with the ability to make people miss in the open field. Good hands, quality route runner and has the speed to get separation and open things up for other players on deep routes. Some say he is more quick than fast, but running a 4.46 at the NFL Combine kind of puts that nonsense to bed.
His playmaking was never more on display than in his five-catch, 110-yard and two-touchdown performance against Arkansas that also included a kickoff return touchdown. Kirk will be able to beat opponents in so many ways.
Weaknesses: Does not have terrific NFL size at just 5-foot-11, so some view him as someone who will play exclusively in the slot at the next level. Doesn’t have long arms so his ability to get after 50/50 balls is limited, especially since he catches the ball with his body a lot. Sometimes let aggressive, press coverage slow him down in college and teams will see that.
