Texas A&M Football: 5 bold predictions for 2018 season
By Jeff Shull
Texas A&M football is embarking on a new journey led by national championship-winning head coach Jimbo Fisher, but just how far will he lead them?
Jimbo Fisher is already making a tangible impact on Texas A&M football, and it’s exactly the sort of impact you would expect from a national championship-winning head coach.
He immediately changed the culture of practices by turning down the music. It’s not that he doesn’t want his players to have fun, but he legitimately just wants them to hear him when he’s teaching. It also has to do with having laser focus while practicing.
Texas A&M saw a record crowd for this year’s Maroon And White Game by almost 3,000 people — set the year after Johnny Manziel won the Heisman. The fans are buying in.
Fisher also has already begun to attract top-level recruits. According to 247Sports, A&M has the fifth-ranked 2019 recruiting class. The hype is real.
Us Aggies should know, by now, that letting the hype train run away can be a disappointing mistake. Kevin Sumlin was just the latest coach to lead us to the edge of the promised land only to hit the brakes and whip a u-turn when the pressure mounted.
Still, it’s hard not to get excited for Fisher and the goals he has set for this program.
Having said all of that, what can we expect from this season? Here are a few bold predictions for the first year of the Fisher era, including how many games they will win.
