Texas A&M Football has a strong recent tradition of getting players drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft. Here are three current players who could continue that tradition.

Even though Texas A&M hasn’t had the most outstanding football team in the nation these past few years, we have done one thing that most schools have not. Year in and year out, it seems like the Ags have always been able to produce some first-round talent. Let’s take a look at the years 2011 and forward.

The pattern seems to continue this year with sensational wide receiver Christian Kirk projecting to go on the first night of the draft as well. Experts have him going in the late picks of the first round. Kirk did have a pretty average final season and I don’t think he’s going to be taken before Alabama’s Calvin Ridley. I see Kirk continuing one of the newest Aggie traditions by being drafted by the Carolina Panthers at number 24.

Maybe he’ll even stay in Texas and play for the Cowboys who had a below average year in the wide receiver department and let go of the pricy Dez Bryant. We won’t know until Thursday where the Arizona native will play his professional football, but we wish him the best of luck and thank him for his service in College Station.

After Kirk leaves, some will say that the tradition of first-round draftees will be over. I may speak for the majority of the 12th Man when I say that that’s a bunch of bad-bull bologna. There is still a ton of talent in the years to come and there will definitely be Aggies drafted in the first round the coming years. Let’s take a look at who they are going to be.
