3. Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks were another one of Kirk’s official pre-draft visits and they seem like just the team that would draft him. They’ve shown over the years they do not necessarily value height at the position, which is really the only thing holding Kirk back from being a top 10 pick.

Let’s take a look at the primary receivers for the Seahawks under Pete Carroll.

  • Doug Baldwin: 5-foot-11
  • Jermaine Kearse: 6-foot-1
  • Paul Richardson: 6-foot
  • Golden Tate: 5-foot-10
  • Tyler Lockett: 5-foot-10
  • Sidney Rice: 6-foot-4
  • Mike Williams: 6-foot-5

Those last two are really the only at that height to be major weapons for Carroll, and neither lasted very long and were there when he inherited the team. They also traded for 5-foot-11 Percy Harvin at one point, though injuries plagued his two seasons with the ‘Hawks.

Toughness and the ability to make plays matter more to Carroll than height advantage. Russell Wilson has developed an unbelievable chemistry with his receivers who seem to have a knack for getting open when he’s scrambling around in the pocket.

Kirk has experience with a mobile quarterback, but more importantly he has significant experience in the slot and the Seahawks could use a weapon there. Lockett has not developed into the slot weapon and deep threat they thought he would be.
