Many great wide receivers have come through the Texas A&M football program. These five wideouts are the best of the best to ever wear maroon and white.

The Texas A&M offense has gone through a multitude of changes over the past several decades. That’s true of the college game as well. As offenses evolve a greater emphasis continues to be placed on the passing game.

With the adding emphasis on the passing attack the nation has seen a rise in talented receivers. That’s true, too, of Texas A&M. The Aggies have had a host of talented playmakers at the position, but which of the former Texas A&M wideouts is the best of the best?

Honorable Mention –  Robert Ferguson

You won’t find Ferguson on many Texas A&M record books. He played just one season in maroon and white in 2000 under head coach R.C. Slocum. He played in an era before the air raid offenses of the 2010’s. That said, Ferguson is undoubtedly one of the most talented play makers in school history.

In his single season, Ferguson was responsible for 28 percent of the team’s catches and 34 percent of the receiving yards. His 58 grabs and 885 receiving yards led the team, as did his six touchdown receptions. The next closest receiver in terms of yardage was Bethel Johnson, who tallied 440 yards.

Ferguson also led the Big 12 conference in receptions. He finished second in receiving yards to Quincy Morgan of Kansas State. For his efforts, Ferguson was named Texas A&M’s offensive MVP.

When he was selected 41st overall by the Packers in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft, Ferguson became the highest drafted receiver in school history.
