Texas A&M Baseball needs to show up against South Carolina

The Texas A&M baseball team welcomes the No. 25 South Carolina Gamecocks to Olsen Field this weekend to close out the 2018 regular season.

The bad news for the Texas A&M baseball team is that they got swept by a very good Arkansas team. The good news is that they still have a three game series to play against South Carolina, and conference tournament games count towards their conference record.

The Aggies (35-17) really needed to pick up at least one win in Fayetteville this weekend to keep their NCAA tournament host dreams alive. Getting swept doesn’t mean that opportunity is completely lost, but it does make it a heck of a lot harder.

Depending on how the series against the Gamecocks goes, the Aggies will need to make a deep run or even win the SEC Tournament in order to host a regional in the national tournament.

D1 Baseball’s latest projections have the Aggies as a two seed in the Stanford Regional.

No. 25 South Carolina (30-21) is 3rd in the East, and enter the weekend having picked up a series win against Missouri the last time out.

The Thursday and Friday games will be aired on the SEC Network+ at 6:30pm CST each. Game three will be shown on the SEC Network at 2pm CST on Saturday. Projected starters are:
