Texas A&M Football: Too early 2018 game-by-game predictions
By Jeff Shull
@ Auburn Tigers — November 3
This being the third of three straight SEC road games might make it a tough one for the Aggies, but their recent history of winning at Auburn could give them an edge. The Aggies surprisingly went 3-0 under Kevin Sumlin at Jordan-Hare Stadium. They aren’t afraid going into Auburn.
Having said that, Auburn is yet another SEC team returning a quarterback who could be a high NFL Draft pick when he comes out along with most of his weapons (seems to be a theme this year). Their passing offense could be lethal.
However, they lost leading rusher Kerryon Johnson to the NFL and second leading rusher Kamryn Pettway is gone, and maybe their two best defensive players in Jeff Holland and Carlton Davis are gone as well.
Still, the Tigers are a projected top 15-20 team in the preseason rankings for a reason. Guz Malzahn got a seven-year, $49 million extension for a reason. They are a perennial contender that just knocked off Alabama. It will be a hard-fought battle.
Prediction: Aggies 23 – Tigers 16
Overall record: 8-2
