Unfortunately not the last matchup but one of the last matchups for Texas A&M to get the victory came in Ryan Tannehill‘s first year as the starting quarterback. He took over after Jerrod Johnson struggled in the early part of the season and galvanized the squad to six straight wins before falling to LSU in their bowl game.

This game was full of big plays by Aggies feature back Cyrus Gray who would go on to the NFL after his time in Aggieland. He ripped off a 84-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that tied the game.

It wouldn’t be the only big play for Gray on the day. After a Garrett Gilbert touchdown run cut the lead to 17-14 Aggies, Gray only needed one play to seal the deal for the Texas A&M with just over four minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Gray finished the day with 26 carries for 223 yards and the two touchdowns. It was a monster performance on the road. The win also drove a knife into the Longhorns fan base as it sealed their first losing season since 1991 and it was the first and only losing season for head coach Mack Brown. This coming only one year removed from making the BCS National Championship game.
