At just 6-5 and unranked in the polls facing a 9-2 Longhorns team that was ranked #13 in the AP Poll at the time, this was one of the bigger upsets during the Big 12 era for Texas A&M. Not only was it surprising for them to get the eight-point win at home, but they jumped out to a 17-0 lead early and held a steady lead for most of the game.

The offense stole the show. They racked up 533 yards behind a lethal three-headed option attack with running backs Mike Goodson and Jorvorskie Lane and quarterback Stephen McGee. Goodson was a monster on the day, totalling 154 yards from scrimmage with two touchdowns.

The Thunder and Lightning duo was fun as hell to watch.

McGee also had a terrific day through the air, throwing for 362 yards and three touchdowns. Texas cut the lead to seven late in the third quarter only to give up a 44-yard touchdown to Goodson 45 seconds later and a 66-yard touchdown to Earvin Taylor four minutes after that that put the game out of reach.
