Recruits

Jimbo has been hitting recruiting hard ever since he officially took the Aggie job, and it’s paying dividends. The Aggies currently sit at No. 3 in the 2019 class rankings with two 5-star, seven 4-star and four 3-star players committed.

He was also able to secure the commitment of 3-star quarterback James Foster from the 2018 class. Foster turned down offers from Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee and LSU, among others, to join Fisher at A&M. Should the Aggies lose one of their two players competing this season, Foster would slide right into that backup spot and wouldn’t be needed (save for injury) for at least two seasons.

Fisher also has a backup plan for the 2019 class. Most of their targets have committed elsewhere, but 3-star pro-style quarterback Brian Maurer and 4-star dual-threat quarterbacks Michael Johnson Jr. and Jayden Daniels are all still weighing their options with the Aggies in the mix.

Crystal ball projections suggest all three are headed elsewhere. However, given his success so far, you can never count Jimbo out. He is shattering expectations for this year’s recruiting class.

There’s a good chance Fisher and his staff already shifted their focus away from Gunnell after he announced he would re-open his recruiting back in February. While Gunnell isn’t drinking the maroon Kool-aid, the 2019 class is stacked with talent that is.
