Daylon Mack’s Spring

One of the big questions entering this season is who will start next to Kingsley Keke at defensive tackle. Daylon Mack and Justin Madubuike are battling it out and most reports have indicated Madubuike dominated in the spring.

However, based on some remarks made by coach Fisher and Keke at Media Days today, Mack shed some weight and has shown improvement.

“Daylon Mack I thought made as much progress this spring as anyone we had,” said Fisher.

Keke added: “Going through workouts, Daylon has been doing really well. I think he’s in his best shape since he’s been here. The coaches are helping him with his diet and his eating to help him keep going.”

Madubuike might still very well earn the starting job. Both this and last year he was pegged as one of the best players on the field during spring practices, but Mack is giving him a run for his money (and should as a former 5-star recruit).
