Texas A&M football is set to begin their fall camp practices on August 1, here are five things to watch as the 2018 season draws near.

You could point to many things as the official start to the Jimbo Fisher era, but the summer practices leading up to the 2018 season, or fall camp, might be the best one yet.

Fisher had a few spring practices to start implementing his new offensive scheme, but this is when we should start to see the players really pick things up and if they can be successful in 2018.

He also has yet to name a starting quarterback and several more position on the offense are also up for grabs. Players will have to stand out in these practices to earn playing time.

Practices officially begin next week.

New defensive coordinator Mike Elko will have a few decisions to make on his side of the ball as well, plus he will have to get his guys up to speed on his scheme and how he wants them to play.

These practices have maybe never been more important than they will be this year. A&M plays Clemson in Week 2 and goes on the road to Alabama in Week 4. They close out September with the Arkansas game at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

Clemson and Alabama are going to be the top two ranked teams in the country, in some order. No other team has both of them on the schedule.

Fisher has to get this new group of guys ready to face the most difficult September schedule of any Power 5 team. Having said that, here are five things to watch when fall camp begins.
