Safeties

First team – Donovan Wilson, Derrick Tucker

Second team – Larry Pryor, Leon O’Neal Jr

Wilson was a major loss due to injury in the 2017 season. He was injured in the opener against UCLA and ended up taking a medical redshirt to be granted one more season. He comes back ready to rock and will be one of the leaders and best players on the defense.

Next to him will likely be Derrick Tucker, who has run with the first team defense in fall camp and had a couple of big moments as a true freshman. He earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Ole Miss, finishing with 14 tackles, two passes defended, a forced fumble and a pick-six that would prove to be the winning touchdown.

Behind these two it is up in the air. Fisher has been vocal about Leon O’Neal Jr.’s talents, so the freshman phenom could see the field for the Aggies. Larry Pryor, Keldrick Carper and DeShawn Capers-Smith could all also see time at safety or in Nickel and Dime packages.

Special Teams

Place Kicker: Daniel LaCamera

Punter/Kickoff:  Braden Mann

Deep Snapper: 1 – Austin Frey

LaCamera should be as sure-legged as kickers come in the college game. He was recognized on the Lou Groza preseason watch list for best place kicker.
