Quarterback

QB1 – Nick Starkel

It’s easy to fall in love with someone like Kellen Mond becoming the starting quarterback given his electric ability to run the football and his high recruiting rank. The problem is he didn’t put together more than a few stretches of good play in his freshman season, where as Starkel looked good most of the time he was on the field.

Fisher won’t be too enamored with Mond’s athleticism. The quarterback of his offense first and foremost has to be an accurate passer with the ability to stretch the field and make all the throws. Based on their performances last season, that guy is clearly Starkel.

QB2 – Kellen Mond

Having said all of that, it is entirely possible Mond has improved this offseason offseason and is giving Starkel a run. It wouldn’t be that surprising if Fisher decided he was the right guy for the offense based on his comments during fall camp. Mond has plenty of potential, he just needed someone like Fisher to unlock that potential.

Fisher took Christian Ponder and E.J. Manual and turned them into first-round NFL Draft picks. He turned Jameis Winston into a Heisman Trophy winner and won a National Championship with him. Mond has the talent, he just needs to get more consistent as a passer.
