Texas A&M football matches up with Clemson this week, so we asked fellow FanSider and Rubbing The Rock site expert Shawn Spencer a few questions.

One of the biggest games for Texas A&M football in the 2018 season is almost here. The Aggies face off with No. 2 Clemson in the first big test of the Jimbo Fisher era.

The Aggies opened up as 13.5 point underdogs and apparently the money is giving Texas A&M a chance. The spread has since moved to +12.5.

Being an almost two-touchdown underdog at home would normally be quite embarrassing, but it speaks to the talent on Clemson’s roster. They have made the College Football Playoff three years running and are a safe bet to make a fourth consecutive trip this season. Dabo Swinney is an excellent coach and the Aggies will certainly have their hands full on Saturday.

This is a marquee game for Texas A&M. It’s the kind of game Kevin Sumlin mostly lost, especially in the four seasons after Johnny Football. It’s exactly the kind of game Fisher was paid $75 million over 10 years to win.

It might not be fair to expect a win from Fisher so early on, but he at least has to be competitive. It’s not like this A&M team is devoid of talent. On the contrary, in fact. Sumlin was a fantastic recruiter if he was nothing else.

The point spread definitely sheds light into the talent difference between these two teams, but the 12th Man might have something to say about that. This game being in Kyle Field might be a great equalizer.

You’re going to hear all about how I feel about these two teams all week, but I wanted to give you an insight into what our opponent’s fans are thinking. I asked Rubbing The Rock site expert Shawn Spencer a few questions.
