Texas A&M football is facing an elite team in the Clemson Tigers this week; here are five players that could give the Aggies problems.
Jimbo Fisher faces one of his toughest tests of the 2018 campaign when he leads the Texas A&M football team onto Kyle Field to take on Clemson, and he knows maybe better than anyone how good the Tigers have been over the last few seasons.
Clemson’s last five recruiting class rankings have gone like this:
To be perfectly honest, that’s not as high as I thought they would be. Clemson has spent the last several seasons in the national championship conversation. They made the College Football Playoff each of the past three seasons. It speaks to the excellence of Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff.
Recruiting is only half the battle. You have to get the talented athletes and develop them into elite college players, which is what Swinney has done. Not that he’s taking all 3-star athletes and turning them into Johnny Football. Those are all top 16 classes.
There is a reason Las Vegas likes Clemson to win this game by double digits.
This is about as tough a test as you could possibly get to begin the Fisher era. He and everyone around this program knows he was hired to win these types of football games. He will be judged — unfairly if they lose — on the performance of this game. The hot takes will rain down from the skies of Twitter if Clemson wins this game going away.
The truth of the matter is Clemson is more talented on paper. It won’t be the end of the world if A&M loses this game. If they do, it will likely be due to one or most of these five players having a big game.
