2. Jace Sternberger
By now you’ve heard of all the different weapons Kellen Mond has at his disposal, and he’s been using them. Four different weapons have at least nine catches and all four of those have at least 146 yards through three games. Six Aggies have at least five catches for Mond. This includes two games that were blowouts by the third quarter.
One new thing about the Texas A&M offense is the use of the tight end. Jace Sternberger has benefited greatly from this change and has developed a rapport with Mond so far this season, especially in the red zone. Jace has three touchdowns in the first three games.
He will have to create mismatches with Alabama’s linebackers and give Mond a big target over the middle of the field to convert first downs and pick up chunks of yards. Teams typically do not grind out long drives against Alabama. Sternberger has the speed that can stretch the field and open things up for other players if he’s actively involved.
If A&M wins, it will more than likely be because Jace has a few big plays.
