Texas A&M football: Aggies, SEC West picks for Week 7
By Jeff Shull
We are at the halfway point of the 2018 season — Get the second half of the season started with some Week 7 SEC West picks.
It’s hard to grasp the college football regular season is already halfway over. It seems like only yesterday Texas A&M football was taking the field in their opener against Northwestern State.
Alabama is running away with the SEC West. They are the only undefeated team remaining in the division and look like they are going to crush any team in their path. They’ve scored 60+ points in multiple conference games, something that has only been done twice ever and the season is just half over. They have outscored their opponents by 240 points through six games, the most ever for an SEC team.
But they couldn’t cover the spread against Arkansas with 65 points?
Here is the recap from our Week 6 selections.

Luke Leifker: 9-6 overall
3-2 straight-up, 6-4 gambling (2-3 ATS, 4-1 O/U)

Looks like my friends on the Gig ‘Em Gazette staff need to step it up! I win this week, but I promise it’s not going to be a continuing trend. I’m here for the fun of it and hope nobody takes my picks seriously. If only I trusted my gut that Florida would pull out the victory over LSU I would have gone 5-0 straight up.
We did better as a team overall. Two of us would have had you in the money and the other two you would have only lost the juice.
Here are the staff standings overall.
Overall Standings
Jeff Shull: 18-12 overall
8-2 straight-up, 10-10 gambling (5-5 ATS, 5-5 O/U)
Robert Ford: 17-13 overall
7-3 straight-up, 10-10 gambling (5-5 ATS, 5-5 O/U )
Luke Leifker: 17-13 overall
7-3 straight-up, 10-10 gambling (3-7 ATS, 7-3 O/U)
Andy Loughmiller: 9-6 overall
4-1 straight-up, 5-5 gambling (2-3 ATS, 3-2 O/U)
It’s incredible how even we all are. Literally everyone is exactly .500 in our gambling picks. It’s hard to be consistently right when making picks and over time even the best gamblers only win 55-60 percent of the time. Vegas knows what they are doing when setting lines.
Our unanimous picks from last week — Alabama to cover, Ole Miss to cover, Miss St. and Auburn to go under — went 2-1. We narrowly missed a perfect record when Alabama allowed Arkansas to put up some points late. They won by 34 and the spread was 35.
There are some huge matchups this week, and we have another picker joining the fun. Let’s get the Week 7 party started.
