Mississippi State Bulldogs at LSU Tigers

Saturday, October 20 at 6:00pm CT; Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA

TV: ESPN; Line: LSU -6.5; Over/Under: 45

Mississippi State really struggled in their losses to Kentucky and Florida, both of whom have defenses LSU matches up with in terms of talent. Mississippi State got back in the win column against Auburn, but I don’t see anyway they go into Baton Rouge and rush for 350 yards.

The Bulldogs are one-dimensional, and their only hope is if LSU has a let down game after a big win over Georgia and are looking ahead to Bama. LSU is better coached than that.

In probably the best game of the weekend, LSU beats State in a rowdy setting at Tiger Stadium. This is also the last tuneup before LSU faces Bama.

Mississippi State seems to have found their way after getting off to a slow start. I like what I have been seeing from Fitzgerald in the past few weeks, but he has yet to see an elite defense. After watching LSU absolutely dominate Georgia at home last week, there is no way I’m betting against the Tigers at home in this one. LSU will win and cover in a fairly low scoring game.

The biggest game in the SEC this weekend is Mississippi State at LSU, but I don’t expect the Bayou Bengals to let the Bulldogs stick around long. A surprising upset against Georgia last week has LSU in legitimate playoff contention (for now) and while this could be a trap game, I don’t expect LSU to get caught looking ahead.
