Stock Up: Front Seven
The front seven has unquestionably been Texas A&M’s best unit thus far this season. The defensive line and linebackers for the Aggies have put together some impressive outings this year, and that trend continued vs the Tigers.
Texas A&M allowed just 19 rushing yards on 21 carries. Auburn is traditionally a team that puts a lot of emphasis on the running attack. Although they don’t have an overly talented group of backs, holding any team to 0.9 yards per carry is impressive.
The front seven is not totally free of blame for allowing Auburn to erase a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter. While most of the blame for this loss can be attributed to the quarterback and secondary, the defensive line and linebackers could have done a better job of closing the game out. Nevertheless, I’d say they did their job, the rest of the team however did not.
