Aggies have five sacks

Texas A&M didn’t have a great pass defense last year, but they were better than this year mostly because they were one of the best pass rushing teams in the country. For whatever reason, that has taken a step back in 2018 under Mike Elko.

Having said that, they came on strong after a slow start to the season. They’re now averaging three sacks per game which has climbed the rankings all the way to No. 18. They are even better at home, averaging about 3.5 sacks per game.

On the flip side, the LSU offensive line has struggled this season. They are No. 84 in sacks allowed per game and Burrow has taken the most sacks of any SEC quarterback this year with 27.

Elko often needs to bring extra pressure to get to the quarterback, but he’s shown a willingness to do it and it pays off on occasion. However, it has also backfired quite a bit as the secondary can’t stay on an island all game long or they will get burned. It’s quite the conundrum to balance.

I believe the Aggies will be able to get pressure rushing four and make life hell for Burrow.
