1. Jace Sternberger – Early to Mid Rounds

The Aggies tight end who led the nation in receiving touchdowns and was second in receiving yards at his position, yet somehow didn’t qualify as a finalist for the Mackey Award, has the highest probability of being a first round pick.

In fact, Pro Football Focus recently projected he would go to the Green Bay Packers late in the first round.

As strictly a receiver, it doesn’t get much better than Jace in the 2019 draft. He has above average speed and terrific hands. Fisher loves to utilize the tight end in his offense and Kellen Mond frequently looked for his security blanket in big situations. Sternberger led the Aggies in catches, yards, touchdowns, and yards per reception. He was both the most reliable receiver and the most explosive weapon.

One thing teams may question is his ability as a blocker. He is certainly willing to get better in this regard and proved he would always stick his nose in when asked, but not always to the best results. Backup Trevor Wood was used often for his ability to block.

Having said that, most teams use tight ends in creative ways in the NFL and he can be a matchup nightmare. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see a team pick him up in the first round.
