Texas A&M football has added the son of legendary women’s soccer coach G Guerrieri. Alan Guerrieri is a punter who should compete for the job in 2020.
Punter is a position Texas A&M football is pretty much set at for the 2019 season, what with the NCAA record holder for average yards per punt coming back for his senior season and all. Braden Mann is a legend on the Aggie message boards, where he was long toted as a Heisman candidate during the 2018 season.
While he is obviously the starter for next season, beyond that is very much an open competition, one that apparently will now include the son of legendary Aggie Women’s soccer coach, G Guerrieri.
Alan Guerrieri, a local kid due to the fact his father has been the women’s coach for its entire existence (seriously, since 1993. The guy literally started the program from scratch and never left), is joining the football program as a preferred walk-on.
The College Station High School prospect was named Division 8-5A-1 Special Teams Player of the Year, making 5-of-7 field goals, 48-of-49 extra points and averaged 40 yards per punt. The Cougars won the state title in his junior season. Kohl’s Kicking Academy has Guerrieri rated as a 4.5 star prospect.
According to 247 Sports, his older sister is an Aggie Class of 2019 and his mom graduated from Texas A&M in 1987. This is an Aggie family through and through!
The #PuntFactory gets me way more excited than it probably should. The Aggies are definitely #PunterU and you couldn’t pick a better school to attend if you’re aiming for a shot at the NFL. A&M’s previous two punters both got that shot and Mann obviously will as well.
