Leon O’Neal

You knew this was coming. Leon O’Neal is not just one of the more vocal players on this Texas A&M Aggies squad — evidenced by how often he would get off the bench and get the home crowd on their feet, even if the Aggies were on defense and he wasn’t on the field — he also is not shy about reminding people how much he loves Texas A&M on his social media accounts.

O’Neal is an instant fan favorite. That kind of love from the fans usually comes from a guy who’s a fantastic leader on the field. He got his first chance to start in the Gator Bowl victory with Wilson missing it with an injury, and O’Neal did not disappoint. He had six tackles and a crucial interception just before halftime to stop a potential NC State scoring drive.

The Cypress Springs Top 100 prospect went all-in as soon as he committed to our fine university. He embodies everything that is right about being an Aggie. He understands the pride Aggies feel in our university and has done everything to embrace it since stepping foot on campus.

O’Neal has been lining up with the first string defense, as expected, and will hopefully be the answer to a pass defense that struggled in 2018.
