Secondary getting better, new name to watch

One of the biggest problems with the 2018 Aggies, discussed ad nauseum on this website and others, was the pass defense, and specifically their inability to prevent big plays. This wasn’t just a problem against SEC opponents, either. Northwestern State, UL-Monroe and UAB were hitting the Aggies with big passing plays.

Will another year of Mike Elko be enough to fix the issues in the back end of the defense? Perhaps. Also, adding more talent to the position will help. The Aggies are getting Clifford Chattman back. He missed all of 2018 with an injury and was second on Team White with seven tackles plus intercepted Kellen Mond’s first pass attempt of the game.

Another star in the game was Moses Reynolds, brother of former Aggie receiver Josh Reynolds. He came to the Aggies as a three star corner in the 2016 class and made the most of his opportunities in the Maroon And White Game. He’ll be a name to watch among the secondary as the season draws near.

Overall, the Aggies had six pass deflections and four interceptions on the day and played well.
