Texas A&M baseball (36-19-1, 16-13-1 SEC) finished the regular season fourth in the SEC west and sixth overall as they head to Hoover for the tournament.

This week will give Texas A&M baseball their last chance to solidify a resume that’s worthy of hosting a regional when the selection show airs next Monday. A&M finishing sixth means they missed out on the first round bye and will face the Florida Gators who enter the tournament on the bubble in need of a win.

The Aggies earned the No. 6 seed after taking the series from west co-champion Arkansas by winning games two and three. Game one was for all the fans of offense with the teams combining for 10 extra base hits. Arkansas hit five home runs in the game which accounted for all of their runs in the (7-3) win.

Games two and three were dominated by Aggie pitching. John Doxakis, Christian Roa, Bryce Miller, Joseph Menefee and Kasey Kalich combined for 26 strikeouts, 13 hits and three earned runs. A&M won game two (6-2) and game three (6-1) to take the series.

If the pitching and timely hitting can continue in Hoover, the Aggies could be destined for something special. It starts with Florida and with a win would take on Georgia in a game that should secure hosting a regional with an Aggie victory.

Ahead of the SEC tournament, the Aggies moved up in four of the rankings with the series win over Arkansas.
