Defensive Line

DE – Max Wright – 4-star in 2018, No. 190 overall, No. 8 at his position
DT – DeMarvin Leal – 5-star in 2019, No. 16 overall, No. 2 at his position
DT – Bobby Brown – 4-star in 2018, No. 182 overall No. 17 at his position
DE – Jeremiah Martin 4-star in 2018, No. 254 overall No. 15 at his position

While the defensive line did lose three of its four starters from the 2018 season, it has potential to get better in the next year or two.

Wright has great length and strength to hold down the left defensive end spot, typically the better run defender of the two defensive ends. He is currently backing up Michael Clemons and should be in the rotation in 2019.

Leal is a monster who enrolled early but had to miss spring practices with an injury, otherwise he might already have cracked the starting lineup for 2019. That time could come sooner rather than later. He could play both inside and out, but given the depth at defensive end the last two classes, it made more sense to slide him inside.

Brown got a ton of playing time as a freshman and came into spring practices bulked up to 330 but playing with the same speed and intensity that he was at closer to 300. That should scare opposing offensive linemen.

Martin has been impressive in practices and provided depth as a freshman at both linebacker and defensive end. He should crack the rotation as a pass rusher this year.
