Quinn Ewers, Quarterback, Southlake Carroll

One of the younger prospects at the tournament is Southlake Carroll’s new man under center, Quinn Ewers. Not only is he Blake Smith’s current teammate, but he could be after they both graduate too. The incoming sophomore already has eight offers, one of them from Texas A&M. Ewers may have a lot of football to play and growing to do, but the future looks promising for Carroll’s newest gunslinger.

Ewers has a great throwing motion and is a natural throwing the football. He has a ton of potential and with Carroll’s history of developing talent, there is no doubt this guy will at least be a 4-star recruit. One thing that is going to help Ewers are solid targets like Smith. The tight end will be his safety valve this season, as he was in the tournament. If the Dragons needed a short gain, it was often Smith who caught quick bullet over the middle.

There is still a lot of growth for the young quarterback to go through. He will put on weight and maybe even more height. Plus, he will get smarter too. One of the things I noticed was his tendency to try and go deep on a third and short situation. There is no need to push it down the field when you only need to hit your back for a short gain. He will learn in the future, that I have no doubt. If the learning and growth take place, remember this guy’s name in a year or so.
